Portable restrooms are the perfect way to meet the sanitary needs of your guests or employees at outdoor events. While they're routinely pumped and thoroughly cleaned before they arrive, it can be a challenge to maintain each unit's cleanliness during heavy usage, especially at multi-day events. Luckily, you can avoid unsatisfactory conditions by following a few simple maintenance steps.

3 Easy Steps to Maintain the Cleanliness of Your Portable Restroom

1. Create a Supply Checklist
One of the easiest ways to keep your portable restrooms clean is by maintaining the supplies within each unit including toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and paper towels. You can stay on top of this chore by creating a checklist and setting times for routine inspections. If you stick to your chosen schedule, you can avoid unnecessary messes.

2. Utilize Air Fresheners & Cleaning Tablets
You can also help maintain the cleanliness of the porta potties by using air fresheners and cleaning tablets. Some toilet rentals come with built-in air fresheners, so you only have to change the insert every few days. If your unit doesn't, simply purchase a disposable scent booster and set it in one of the front corners. For long-term rentals, utilize drop-in sanitation tablets to help reduce odors and maintain the cleanliness of the toilet.

3. Routinely Open the Doors
Another way to keep the restrooms tidy and clean is by identifying a time throughout the day where they're less likely to be used, such as in the evening or during a group activity, and open the doors. The fresh air will allow odors to escape and ensure that your guests or workers aren't overwhelmed by unpleasant smells. Allow the portable restrooms to air out for at least 30 minutes at a time for best results.

Thank you for you tips on keeping port-a-potties clean. I like how you said to open the doors periodically during the day. It would be nice if someone would do this at our community's fair.

I thought you brought up a good point when you talked about how it is important to keep hand sanitizer and toilet paper supplied in a portable restroom. My wife and I are going to be renting portable restrooms for a family reunion that is going to be at a venue that doesn't have those kinds of facilities. We will have to make sure that we get extra supplies that we can use.

It was really interesting when you talked about how portable restrooms are perfect for meeting the sanitary needs of guests at an outdoor event. This summer, I would like to host some kind of event in my local park for my neighbors. It might be a good idea for me to rent some portable restrooms so that people won't have to go back to their homes if they need to go to the bathroom.

My favorite part of this article is that bringing supplies for your restroom could be the reason for the cleanliness. My neighbor mentioned the other day that he and his friend were hoping to find a portable bathroom rental that could offer luxury accommodation for their business event, and he asked if I had any idea what would be the best option to consider. I'm glad for this helpful article, I'll tell him that we can consult a well-known portable bathroom rental service in town as they can provide more information about their services.

I like what you said about keeping the restrooms tidy and clean. I keep finding toys and floss in the toilet. I hope it doesn't ruin my septic tank.

My cousin is adding another room to his house and installing a swimming pool, so he'll be working with a large crew. I'm not sure if my cousin has thought about renting portable toilets for the construction workers, so I'll ask him later and suggest he reads your tips. I appreciate your advice on keeping your portable toilets clean by letting the unpleasant odors out regularly.

Great tip about purchasing a disposable scent booster. That seems like a great way to mitigate smells. I think my septic tank might be over flowing.
